For the 3rd consecutive year Australian citizenship acquired by the majority of the Indians


  1. As the heading states yes it’s that for the 3rd year repeatedly Indians become huge in crowed to get Australian citizenship.
  2. The most recently fiscal year 2019-20 has noticed that the figure of acquiring citizenship of Australia rise to 38,209. Australian govt. said this fiscal year 2019-20 as a record year.it is nothing but constituting 18.6% of the total number of new citizenship.
  3. In this year (2019-20) it is recorded that more than 2 lakh means nearly 2, 04,817 people acquired the citizen ship of Australia. A 60% increment is recorded.
  4. In the year 2017-18 the chart is on the top with 17,756 Indians acquired the Australian citizenship for the first time an UK being the second spot in getting Australian citizenship.
  5. In the next year about 28,470 Indians obtained the Australian citizenship.
  6. There was slight decline occur in the annual ratio of Indians acquiring citizenship to the total number of new citizens and it was 22% in 2017-18 , remained unchanged at 22.3% in 2018-19 , so it has now declined to 18.6% .
  7. During this year as the pandemic attacked all over the world so not only Australia but many other countries banned the international travel since March.
  8. Government reported that in Australia the overseas migration expected to fall to 31,000 during the year 2020-21, with an estimated 1.54 lakh in the previous year and 2.32 lakh in the year 2018-19 comparatively.
  9. It is said by the official that government has taken an action quickly to initialize the online citizenship conferral ceremonies till date more than 60,000 Indians have been conferred citizenship via this mode.
  10. This will have a negative effect on future citizenship statistics.
