EDUCATION POLICY (NEP) 2020

- As the above heading that NEP stands for New Education Policy. This policy of central government previously
released by the HRD ministry in 2019 and
now at-last this policy agreed by the government in 2020.
- Recommendation of this policy is the
curriculum and educational structure from 10+2
system to 5+3+3+4 system covering ages 3-18 with focus on language and mathematics
in class I to III.
- The format of 10+2
has been completely terminated.
- It means now in the first five years
of the schooling there will be three years of pre-primary school consisting
class I and class II with foundation stage.
- Then after, next three years will be
divided in the stage of preparation of class 3rd
to 5th.
- After that in the middle stage of
three years from 6th to 8th
and four years of the middle state from 9th
to 12th.
- Except all of the above there will be
no more restrictions in arts, commerce, and science stream, now it depend on
the students that which subjects or streams they wish to choose they can grab
it easily.
Some main points of new education policy
- Medium of teaching or instruction should
be in local language or mother language till class VI
and if needs then till class VIII and beyond.
- The purpose of the NEP that every
state/ District will be encouraged to establish Baal
Bhawans as a special day-time boarding school were children of all ages may
wish to go once a week or more to take part in art-related,
career-related, and play-related activities.
- All higher educational institutions
will be multi-disciplinary by 2040 in
which more than 3000 student will exist.
- Institutions will have the option to run open distance learning and the online activities.
- It is aimed to develop the human
ability such as mental, physical, social, and emotional and the political together.
- This policy contain Music, Arts, Dance, and other things like
philosophy, Theatre etc. also consists of the curriculum of the literacy of the higher institutions.
- Moreover the policy has special
emphasis on socially and economically disadvantaged groups such as SC/STs. It proposes a separate “Gender Inclusion Fund” for such groups and
special education zones for disadvantaged regions.
- NEP aims to provide access to vocational education to at least 50% of all learners by 2025.
- In higher education the policy speaks
of increased graded autonomy to the institutions with an independent board of
Governors.
- The policy sets target of 100% adult youth and adult literacy by 2030.
